Irish Mythology & Celtic Legends
Stories, fairies and ancient gods of Ireland, told in Spanish
About Us
El Velo de Irlanda is a space built as a bridge across an invisible yet strangely tangible border — the one that connects Ireland as it is, real and everyday, with the Ireland of magic.
On one side is the Ireland everyone knows, whether by reputation or from having traced it on a map — the Ireland of Dublin, St Patrick, Halloween, the harp, the whiskey, the pint of Guinness. The Ireland admired for its history, the one that leaves anyone who has walked it breathless. An island that seems draped in a patchwork of green in every shade, of cliffs like Moher, the Giant's Causeway, its castles, its ancient monuments, and places that still carry the marks of thousands of years of history.
But there is another Ireland — less known, seemingly hidden, and yet right there in plain sight. A mythological Ireland, home to gods, fairies, heroes and beings from the Other World, kept alive for centuries by cultural memory and legend — legends that don't just explain the landscape, but in many cases have helped preserve the Ireland we get to see and enjoy today. An Ireland where, for centuries, history and legend have walked hand in hand.
It's precisely that union between the two Irelands that gives life to everything here: an Irish universe built to help people understand, preserve and share the mythological, cultural and heritage richness of Ireland. A space where we draw a clear line between what's documented and backed by official sources, and what belongs to folklore and to a people's collective memory. Because what matters most to us is that whoever arrives here doesn't just learn about Ireland — they come to understand it, interpret it, and respect it, seen through the eyes of those who have lived on this island for generations.
That's why we call it El Velo de Irlanda — "the veil of Ireland" — because "veil" is the word that best describes that threshold, one that can be crossed in many ways: through a story, a legend, a tale, or an interactive map that lets you discover real places and open carefully built profiles, where documented, archaeological, tangible Ireland so often meets cultural, mythological, magical Ireland. We're not trying to separate those two worlds — we're trying to show exactly where they meet. Because Ireland isn't a place that ends with what you can see. You also have to learn to look for what stays hidden in plain sight.
